The HypnoBirthing Mongan Method program can run over 5 consecutive weeks or the sessions can be spread out over a longer time but still aim to finish by 37 weeks. So, the sooner you start from 20 weeks onward, the greater practice time you will have to become familiar with the relaxation techniques, that will then become so familiar and second nature to you for your birthing day.
The program also gives adequate time for reflection, for you to to get to know your baby with prenatal bonding and you will get to know what and how you wish to birth with HypnoBirthing birth preferences.
Jo from Yoga Motion, your HypnoBirthing Practitioner will help you over this extended time to become confident and relaxed. This program has been cleverly designed over the 5 sessions to release fear and for you to gain a positive birth preparation.
A weekend workshop does not provide the above benefits, as you would not have enough opportunity to become familiar with the techniques. Support would be minimal and you would most likely feel information overload.

The HypnoBirthing Mongan Method is more than just an antenatal class as it provides stress release techniques for daily living, throughout your pregnancy, labour, birth and beyond. These techniques are best practiced on a regular basis so they become second nature for you to implement during your birthing day. Your birthing day is a major event so why leave it by chance or fate. Preparation with practice is the key to learning to cope with stress throughout your pregnancy and ultimately for birth and beyond.

Reading the HypnoBirthing Mongan Method book is covered over the five sessions. However, it does not represent the whole program, for reading the text is like an introduction only and provides less than 20% of the benefits compared to completing the private sessions that support your unique pregnancy and childbirth needs.
The best childbirth preparation is not just by reading the book. There is greater value by reflecting, understanding and practicing what is covered in the book. By attending a face to face class with a qualified HypnoBirthing Mongan Method Practitioner you will receive additional benefits, where the content is expanded and you will receive personal guidance to ensure that you are on the right track, by embracing the relaxation techniques and feeling empowered with the educational support.

Hypnosis is a natural relaxed state that everybody experiences on a daily basis. The most common examples are during the moments just before you naturally wake up and the moments just before you fall off to sleep. Many people experience hypnosis several times throughout the day even without realising it; such as during deep relaxation, focused concentration, meditation and daydreaming.
Each person will experience hypnosis differently. Some will have a heightened state of awareness and will hear every sound in the room and will hear every word that is said. For some the sounds fade in and out. The majority of people will feel profoundly or deeply relaxed.
During this deeply relaxed state you ARE NOT unconscious or asleep, you are not submissive to another’s will, you are not in an eerie trance state and you are not prone to reveal confidential information. These are myths and misunderstanding of the hypnotised state. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis for a hypnotised person is totally conscious, a consenting participant, fully in control, comfortably relaxed and aware of their surrounding and aware of what is happening.

Birth Hypnosis is designed to help the birthing mother to achieve an ultimate depth of relaxation, so her body and birthing muscles are free of tension to better support her body to perform its natural birthing function. Birth Hypnosis can also assist the mother in releasing any fears of birthing or emotions that could be restrictive and limiting.
During your labour even in deep relaxation you will hear conversations and may or may not wish to join in. Though you are totally relaxed you will also be fully in control. To the person who is not familiar with self-hypnosis, you may even appear as though you have taken some kind of medication to put you into this profoundly relaxed state. Women in labour who use self-hypnosis and decide to keep their eyes closed often give the impression that they are sleeping, when in fact they are quite alert but profoundly relaxed.

HypnoBirthing Mongan Method is realistic and does not promise a painless birthing day. Although many mums do report having a relatively pain free labour and birth or one they were able to manage through the intensity.
It is widely known that relaxation during labour and birth can greatly reduce pain by assisting in the release of the hormone endorphin, that acts similar to the administration of analgesia. With HypnoBirthing you will learn many advanced relaxation techniques and learn to trust and work with your birthing body, to reduce harmful emotions that lead to pain causing fear and muscle tension.
With Birth Hypnosis, during your labour you will be aware of your uterine surges (contractions), but you will experience them with greater ease. You will be able to interrupt your deep relaxation whenever you wish and resume relaxation whenever you wish. As your labour moves nearer to birth you will most likely choose to go even deeper within.

HypnoBirthing Mongan Method is a collaborative method of childbirth, not an alternative method. The content of the program is not intended to replace the advice and care of a health care provider. The program philosophy does not preclude the introduction of medial intervention, per se. It precludes the introduction of arbitrary or unnecessary medical interventions.
The program is beneficial for all families, including those who because of genuine special circumstances find themselves in a category of high risk when their birthing takes an unexpected turn. Should the course of birthing run differently from what was planned and medical intervention or a C-section is required the HypnoBirthing techniques enables parents to remain calm, relaxed and in control as they discus options, evaluate the situation and make informed decisions concerning the birthing.

The choice to attend other childbirth education classes in conjunction with HypnoBirthing is entirely up to you. However, it is important to know that the HypnoBirthing Mongan Method program is a comprehensive childbirth program that can be taken alone. It has the unique advantage of teaching you deep relaxation techniques that a general childbirth education class does not cover.
